Cadet Life at Detachment 730 is an
experience unlike any other. Cadets are faced with
challenges and accept responsibilities above and beyond
that of the normal college student; while at the
same time cadets are able to enjoy a full collegiate
lifestyle. The AFROTC program is geared towards leadership
skills and personal development. AFROTC students,
as members of the cadet wing, work to support each
other to achieve uncommon success in ROTC as well
as the academic environment. As part of the Detachment’s
mentoring program upperclass cadets are available
for tutoring and guidance throughout the academic
semester. Cadets work closely with each other and
often form friendships that will last far beyond the
Cadet Wing.
It is in this unique environment that AFROTC students
learn, through experience, the principle of leadership,
decision making, discipline, and integrity. These
basic principles are invaluable in both military and
civilian life.
As a cadet, you will experience many life-changing
activities. Each week you will attend 1-3 hours of
Aerospace Studies class, in which you will learn about
airpower, the history of the Air Force, and leadership.
Additionally once per week you will attend a Leadership
Lab that will allow you to hone your military and
leadership skills. You will also have the opportunity
to participate in other activities:
- Formal award ceremonies and dinners
- Team-building and recreational activities like
paintball, rock climbing, field exercises
- Orientation flights in general aviation aircraft
- Unit picnics and social events
Additionally cadets at Detachment 730 are invited
to join AFROTC affiliated social and service organizations
such as the Arnold Air Society and the Detachment
730 Honor Guard. As a member of one of these organizations,
cadets will participate in activates to benefit the
local and national communities while working with
and learning from upperclass cadets.
